Anyway, I may have trouble putting into words what is perhaps my most important find. I am noticing the deep importance of people. I used to be naive and go out of my way to help just anyone around me in need but I've over and over again been disappointed when help is not returned to me. Most people only care about themselves so the initial thought is that I should only care about myself as well. I have found that thought to be incorrect, at least to a degree. I need only to be careful who I go out of my way for. I'm an odd person and I wouldn't have it any other way, but naturally I don't have that deep of a connection with that many people because I'm not like everyone else. However I've been fortunate enough to find an excellent group of people that I love. These people improve me and help me and I sure hope I do the same for them. Even my parents, though they can be rather irritating, have shown over and over again that they love me and they have always provided for me ever since the beginning so I very much appreciate them as well. It's kind of another story for a different time, but I could have been In Hollywood at a Dir En Grey concert tonight but eh, I had a lot more fun just chilling with my friends and watching Lost
Some other discoveries are that I am a cynical optimist, which is actually a quite fun thing to be. I've noticed that politicians are usually people (often idiots) that will say anything to get a vote and then do whatever the companies that funded their campaigns want them to do when they are elected. Sometimes they will do something that they hope will make them look good to the voters so that they can get re-elected too. Mmm, while we are on the topic of government I have noticed that all too often what's best for the state or nation is not at all what is best for the individual. For example I for one have NO intention of just working some job for as long as I can and then dying quickly; but that would keep a nation nice and productive. Finding a good living is an important part of life, yes, but there is so much more to life than just working oneself to death like that horse in George Orwell's Animal Farm.
Also, I've found there are little differences between the two dominate parties in this country. Both do little to nothing to get us free from oil, neither really wants to get their nose out of the middle east, and really both just do what the rich people that fund them want them to do while distracting the people with their stance on controversial issues such as abortion and gay marriage (which btw, making prohibitive laws against either issue would put us under a bigger, more controlling government although most conservatives that say they support doing away with both of these things would say that they want a small government that doesn't always tell them what to do... got to love hypocrisy XD). Being brought up southern baptist I have heard all the silly little arguments against gay marriage and beleive me when I say that you can't justify a government that does not allow gay marriage. The only addressing I will give the idea of gay marriage being bad for the family is that we all know that's a bunch of bullshit with no research to back it up. The main reason people say they don't want gay marriage is because they think the Bible backs their hate up. It doesn't, though. I wrote an essay on this and could better argue it back then but I think I can still get my point across. For instance, I can point to many instances where Jesus and the Apostle Paul did not pressure people into following them. If anything Jesus discouraged people from following him at times. Why should the government force a biblical view on thousands that don't even practice Christianity when Jesus didn't even do that? Some silly people may point to judgments of Jerusalem when the people there did things "wrong in God's eyes" but biblicaly the Israelites of that time had a certain covenant with God and if someone now thinks we are still under that covenant then they are a hypocrite because they shouldn't eat pig, shellfish, or all sorts of other things and if you follow their line of logic fully then they should also be saying that the government should stone all kinds of people to death for little things. Oh, and they should make animal sacrifices as well. If people would open their eyes they would realize that this whole gay debate was settled back in the 16 and 1700's when people fought for religious freedom. In no nation will everyone be the same religion so making a government that follows one religion will inevitably oppress a good amount of individuals just as forcing a single belief from one or more religion upon a whole nation would oppress a large amount of people. We have a separation of Church and State for these reasons and many, many more. When you add the fact that people are obviously born gay and don't just "turn" gay somehow you see that this whole debate is just fucking ridiculous. People should just let gay people get married and move on with their lives. It won't even negatively effect any of these people that are so against it. Our government should be more concerned with moving froward and fixing problems that have been left alone for years but it doesn't and I am beginning to think that it never will. Governments are always breaking and need fixing... hm maybe we should just have a revolution
That was fun, I could go on about all kinds of things but i think I'll stop here. Thanks to anyone that read all of my random thoughts I talked about ^_^
